For almost 20 years The Simpsons opening has remained pretty much the same, except for the obligatory message on the chalkboard and the couch gathering. Well, last night The Simpsons finally went HD and fans were treated to a redrawn introduction. For those who missed it, watch it here:

Although the series sometimes had a hard time staying relevant -- we've grown to expect topical humor from shows like South Park, but episodes can take a year to produce -- it's lasting impression on our vernacular is undeniable. I loved the Simpsons Movie, and hope the move to HD will breath new life to the show.
