Recently my cellphone met a violent death after a frustrating phone call with Sprint. I've blogged about Sprint problems in the past , but this recent episode got me so infuriated that I ended up shattering my phone into a million pieces. I didn't just drop kick the device, I went medieval on it. To see how it went down, watch this dramatic recreation of the end of my call with Sprint .
Replace the printer with my Sprint phone and that's pretty much how it went down. Unfortunately in the heat of the moment, I did not have the foresight to back up my contacts. Thankfully I did make a backup a few months ago when I tried out the Android Phone and now have contacts saved in Google Contacts, but they are not sorted and it may take a while to filter through hundreds contacts from business and school so please email or text me your phone number if you get a chance.
After it sunk in that I just cut my line to the rest of the world, a poem from Yeats popped in my head:
Made draperies that seemed to rise
When sea-wind swept the corner, stands;
His long lamp-chimney shaped like the stem
Of a slender palm, stood but a day;
All things fall and are built again,
And those that build them again are gay.
I immediately made my way to the AT&T store, bought an iPhone, and have never been happier. This is officially my first smartphone. After seven years of Sprint service growing progressively worse, I've been born again as an instant iPhan. AT&T is charging me roughly double(!!!) what I paid with Sprint, but sometime you get what you pay for...and then some.
