There were two big announcement from Google this week: Google Street View and Google Gears. I can't get Google Gears to work properly with all my sites, but it's still in beta and looks promising. Initially, Street View was met with great fanfare. I love it because I can take a virtual walk in my old neighborhood and reminisce. Here's a cute video on how to do this. Most people I know are wowed by the detail. However the mass reception was not all warm and fuzzy. Many people are worried about their privacy. Of course, anything you do from within street view is fair game. Still, there are a few images (many of them quite funny) that hint that Google sees everything. Some argue that it's only a matter of time before we have live video feeds across all cities.
Mashable has a great post on the implications of how much of the information space that Google controls. I didn't know that they just acquired Feedburner.
